NASA’s Wisconsin Regional Powerlifting Meet was held in Chippewa Falls this past Saturday, where the “Chippewa Classic” was hosted by the McDonell Central Catholic High School. The Annual Wisconsin Powerlifting Banquet was held the Friday evening before the Meet, at Chippewa Falls’ very own “Fill In Station.”
Steven Korff, 50, took 1st place in both the 198 Lbs. Masters(40+) Quadralifting Division, and the Masters 2(50-59) Unequipped Powerlifting Division. Korff’s Strict Curl of 132 Lbs., Squat of 501 Lbs., Benchpress of 314 Lbs., and Deadlift of 456 Lbs., combined for an Unequipped Powerlifting Total of 1272 Lbs., and a Quadralifting Total of 1404 Lbs. Steve was successful on 9 out of 11 attempts and competed at a bodyweight of 192 Lbs. Pending the outcome of drug testing, Korff’s 501 Lbs. Squat, and Unequipped Powerlifting Total of 1272 Lbs., are new American Records within the 198 Lbs. Masters 2 Division.
Korff also won the Galileo Cup Award for the 3rd year in a row at Saturday’s Meet, outlifting all Equipped and Unequipped Lifters, by formula. The Galileo Factor(formula) is used as a multiplier to determine whether the Best Lifter at a Meet was the Unequipped Lifter with the highest coefficient, or whether an Equipped Lifter was Best Lifter.
The evening before the Meet, Steve was named the 2009 Wisconsin Quadralifter of the Year. A dozen other Lifters were named 2009 Wisconsin Athletes of the Year, in various categories, the full results of which will be published in the May Edition of Wisconsin Powerlifting News, arriving in eMail inboxes on Saturday, May 15th.
